Thermal orthomosaic
A thermal orthomosaic is a stitched, georeferenced temperature map of your site. Instead of colors from a regular camera, each pixel represents measured surface temperature — so warm and cold spots can be located precisely on the map and compared across the whole area.
A thermal orthomosaic requires radiometric thermal imagery. Radiometric means the camera stores an actual temperature value for every pixel in the file. Thermal cameras that only save a colorized preview image do not carry this data, and a valid temperature map cannot be built from them — the job is rejected at start rather than producing misleading results. Check your camera's documentation for whether it records radiometric data.
Typical uses:
- Inspecting solar farms — faulty panels and strings show up as hot spots.
- Building and roof inspection: heat loss, moisture and insulation gaps.
- Locating leaks or anomalies in infrastructure across large areas.
If your imagery qualifies, select the thermal output when choosing outputs; the result opens as a map layer in the viewer.
