NDVI
NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) is a map of vegetation health. Healthy plants reflect near-infrared light strongly and absorb red light; NDVI compares the two and turns the ratio into a color-coded index. On the map, vigorous vegetation stands out from stressed, sparse or bare areas at a glance.
NDVI requires multispectral imagery. Your drone camera must capture a near-infrared band alongside the visible ones — regular RGB photos do not contain the information the index is computed from, so an NDVI output cannot be produced from a standard photo set. If you upload multispectral imagery, select NDVI when choosing outputs and it is generated as a georeferenced map layer.
Typical uses:
- Spotting crop stress early — irrigation, nutrient or pest problems show up before they are obvious to the eye.
- Comparing zones within a field to target fertilizing or sampling.
- Monitoring vegetation recovery or decline across repeated flights.
The result opens as a layer in the viewer and can be downloaded like any other output.
